a) Aeropuerto de Guadalajara (GDL): Este se encuentra justo entre la Ciudad de Guadalajara y Ajijic, a 40min de Ajijic.

b) Carretera (6 hr 50 min): Via Atlacomulco - Guadalajara/Carr. Guadalajara - Morelia/Zinapecuaro - Guadalajara/México 15D. Si vas tomar carretera, evita circular de noche, y procura viajar acompañado.

FROM ABROAD:

a) GDL Airport (GDL): The airport is 40min from Ajijic. Closer to the date we'll follow-up for transfer assistance. Please note that probably you'll have a stopover in Mexico City.

b) Driving from Mexico City is not recommended, do prioritize arriving to GDL Airport. Highway from Mexico City is a 6 hr 50 min drive (Via: Atlacomulco - Guadalajara/Carr. Guadalajara - Morelia/Zinapecuaro - Guadalajara/México 15D). If you still wish to drive, for your safety, AVOID any driving at night, and AVOID travelling solo.

En la lengua Náhuatl, Axixic significa "Lugar donde corre el agua". Su historia comienza cuando tribus nahuatls se establecieron en las orillas del Lago de Chapala. Se dice que el primero surgió de cenizas en la Isla de Mezcala, y es por que el Lago es uno de los 4 puntos cardinales en la mitología náhuatl.

Como asentamiento español, fue fundado en 1531, es una de las villas más antiguas de México, sus calles empedradas y parroquia datan a la influencia española. Hasta los años 40 se convirtió en un imán para extranjeros, siendo una de las primeras Khyva St. Albans, intérprete del ballet clásico ruso.

El 1 de diciembre de 2020, Ajijic fue nombrado oficialmente Pueblo Mágico.

In the Nahuatl language, Axixic means "Place where water flows." Its history begins when Nahuatl tribes settled on the shores of Lake Chapala. It is said that the first one arose from ashes on the Island of Mezcala, that is why this Lake is one of the 4 cardinal points in Nahuatl mythology.

As a Spanish settlement, it was founded in 1531, it is one of the oldest towns in Mexico, its cobbled streets and parish date back to Spanish influence. Until the 1940s it became a magnet for foreigners, one of the first being Khyva St. Albans, a performer of classical Russian ballet.

​On December 1, 2020, Ajijic was officially named "Pueblo Mágico" (magical town).
